General Information on Specialty Judges
Sweeps
Judge: Mrs. Susan St. John Brown
Susan began her love of
show dogs at the age of fourteen when her first Irish Setter from a
local show breeders litter came into her life. Serandida Kennels
came into being within a few short years. She achived many successes in
Irish Setters which became her initial vehicle into the world of
breeding, showing, professionally handling and now judging purebred
dogs. In 1979, Susan specialed the first multiple group winning Ibizan
Hound, Ch. Ishtar Sonnet of Loki. A new love was born.
Ibizan Hounds have been
the main focus for Susan as a breeder for the past thirty years.
Although there have been Irish Setter, Toy Poodle and Basenji champions
with the Serandida prefix along the way, the bulk of the over 100
champions who carry that prefix are Ibizans hounds. 2007 was a record
winning year for Serandida, seven of the top fifteen Ibizan Hounds in
the all breed standings sported the Serandida prefix. Jim Brown, Susan’s
husband of 32 years, is also a judge and is very involved in all aspects
of the success of their life in purebred dogs.
The great honor of
having judged the Irish Setter National and the Ibizan National, as well
as Westminster has been a huge thrill. Susan has been judging now for
over 20 years and is looking forward to having the honor of knowing many
more great dogs along the way.

Specialty Judge: Mr.
Tom Hale
Tom Hale became
involved with pure bred dogs in 1963, initially with German
Shorthaired Pointers and then on to English Springer Spaniels.
In addition to breeding and showing his own dogs, Tom was an AKC
licensed all breed handler during the 70’s until they
discontinued this program.
After more than
30 years of involvement in the world of pure bred dogs, Tom
applied to judge in 1995. He currently is approved to judge all
Sporting dogs, all Herding dogs, about half of the Working group
and junior showmanship.
Tom became
familiar with Polish Lowland Sheepdogs through judging at ARBA
and other rare breed shows prior to their recognition into the
AKC. He was approved to judge PONS in August of 2005.
Tom and his
wife, Bettyann, live in Cable Ohio where they are still breeding
and exhibiting their English Springer Spaniels under the
Windmoor kennel name. They have several Springers and two
Border Collies living with them. |
